Claude Code’s Plugin Skills, Why This Is a Bigger Deal Than It Looks
I’ve been around long enough to remember when “integration” meant weeks of custom scripts, duct-taped APIs, and a lot of late nights trying to make two systems talk to each other without breaking a third.
So when I see what’s happening inside Claude Code with plugin skills, I don’t see a feature update.
I see a shift in how work actually gets done.
And if you run a business, especially a lean one, this matters more than most people realize.
What Plugin Skills Actually Are
Let’s strip away the buzzwords.
Plugin skills are simply pre-built connections that let Claude do real work across other systems.
Not suggest. Not draft. Not outline.
Execute.
In the old world, you had:
An AI that could think
Tools that could act
And a human stuck in the middle translating between the two
What plugin skills do is remove that middle layer.
Claude becomes the coordinator, and the tools become extensions of its reach.
